Introduction
Welcome to my webpage!
I have been teaching at Wisconsin Heights since the fall of 1997, and I have seen a lot of changes over the years. When I started here, there were only four English classes in total, one for each grade in the high school. Now the English department offers multiple classes for every grade! Some classes are required, but there is a class to fit nearly every interest and to teach a variety of skills. Students of every grade can choose more or less challenging classes, and they can choose classes that focus on literature, composition, or research, or that teach general skills for reading and writing well.
Currently, I teach AP English Literature and Composition and College Reading and Writing for seniors and Comparative Literature and Research in the Sciences and Humanities for freshmen and sophomores.
Outside of school, I love to spend time with my husband, my young son and our dog. We take frequent walks in the woods, travel widely, listen to a huge variety of music, and read a lot of books. I want my son to enjoy and appreciate the things that I think make life interesting and fun: exploring different cultures and diverse foods, reading good books, listening to a wide variety of music, spending time with friends and family, and learning about anything and everything.
I enjoy being a teacher. I love the diverse, interesting, and fun students; my creative and caring colleagues; and the supportive parents and community. I feel very fortunate to work in this district.
My Classroom
My classroom is neat and orderly, but exhibits the creativity and excitement for learning that I hope to inspire in my students.
Teaching Style
I hold my students to high standards of academic work while maintaining open lines of communication; offering ample instruction, assistance and support; and encouraging critical, creative, and original thought.
