Lisa Stenner

Introduction

My name is Lisa Stenner. My true passion for teaching is with our youngest learners-in 4K! I have been teaching 4K for 25 years. This is my second year of teaching 4K in the Wisconsin Heights School District. I have a degree in Early Childhood and Special Education from Edgewood College. I live in Mt. Horeb with my husband Jamie, and two girls, Megan and Paige. I also have a very large yellow lab, Izzy. I always share many funny stories about her with my students.

My Classroom

In my 4K classroom; I believe the most important focus is on social-emotional development. The children will learn how to problem-solve and use their words to communicate with their peers as well as with their teachers. I offer daily activities for children to explore and express themselves. Each child has their own special personality and I take the time to get to know them so that I can extend and plan activities that best fit the needs and interests of every child in my classroom.

Teaching Style

In my 4K classroom, I believe children learn best through exposure and play. The children are exposed to a variety of hands-on-learning activities . The daily activities include: Art and Sensory Exploration, Building and Problem-Solving, Role-Playing in Dramatic Play, Language/ Literacy with many read alouds and learning by participating in letter/name recognition activities. The children will have an opportunity to participate in Science Experiments, and express themselves through music and movement. The 4K program is a wonderful and important time in your child’s life. 4K is special because it is truly the start of your child’s school career. Your child will be growing in academic areas, obtaining essential life skills, as well as building social relationships.
