Introduction

My name is Mr. Fehlen, I am married and live in Black Earth with my wife. I love spending time outdoors and playing board games with my friends. Over the summer I spend my time gardening and try to get outside and hike.

My Classroom

My classroom is a very student driven environment. I focus heavily on building systems that students can take over/share ownership of. This leads to higher independence and grit in students. Students are going to be asked to handle a lot in this classroom, but never more than they are able.

Teaching Style

I am a very relaxed teacher. I value standards based and staff collaboration made plans, but equally value shifting the focus of a lesson in real time. If students aren't responsive to how a lesson is unfolding, often I will shift gears and try something new.
