Introduction

Hello! My name is Emalie Sternberg and I am the General Music Teacher for Wisconsin Heights Elementary School. I have been at the Wisconsin Heights School District since 2019.

I am originally from Houston, TX, and graduated from the University of Arizona in 2012 with my Bachelor of Music in Music Education. I received my Master of Music Education from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point in 2023. My primary instrument was trombone, but I play the ukulele more often now!

My Classroom

Students attend music class 2 times every four days. Classes are 25 minutes long. In music class we sing, play, listen, create, understand, and gain the foundations of music literacy. Students make connections between various other academic subjects, and we incorporate diverse genres, styles, musicians, and backgrounds in the music we experience. Each month, students will focus on a different genre of music. The goal is to expose and teach students about the popular forms of music within our and other's cultures to encourage a life-long love of music.

September - Classical Music

October - Folk Music

November - Blues Music

December - Jazz Music

January - County

February - Rock n' Roll

March - Latin Music

Students in Third and Fourth Grade will learn how to play the Recorder. In Fifth Grade, students will learn how to play the Ukulele.
