The most recent State Report Card, officially released by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction today, is an integral part of the state accountability system. These comprehensive report cards encompass data across multiple indicators over the last three school years within four priority areas: Achievement, Growth, Target Group Outcomes, and On-track to Graduation. Districts and individual schools receive scores on a 0-100 scale in these priority areas, which are then combined to form an overall accountability score ranging from 0-100. It is important to clarify that this accountability score does not represent a “percent correct” measurement. Instead, it is an aggregate of four priority areas that are weighted based on demographics and school size. Based on this score, schools or districts are assigned one of five rating categories, ranging from Fails to Meet Expectations to Significantly exceeds Expectation, each corresponding to one to five stars.
