Mrs. Schmitt's 7th-grade students put on their urban planner hats this week! Using a student-designed city layout from a previous lesson, they tackled a population growth challenge through roleplay. Students took on roles as urban planners, environmentalists, business owners, and residents, collaborating to find the best solutions for their town's needs. Each group crafted a proposal and presented their ideas, culminating in a town vote to decide the future of their community. This hands-on experience showcased creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork. Way to go, future city planners! #VanguardPride

Kindergarteners are experimenting with creating tints and shades after looking at the artist Mark Rothko. #VanguardPride

This weekend, WHHS Drama Club presents "An Absolutely True Story Told By A Bunch Of Lying Liars". Performance dates and times: -Friday, December 6th, 7pm -Saturday, December 7th, 2pm -Saturday, December 7th, 7pm -Sunday, December 7th, 2pm All performances will be held at the WHHS cafeteria/stage. Tickets for all performances: tinyurl.com/WHHS-Fall-2024-Play Tickets will also be available at the door. Synopsis: This year's winter play is called "An Absolutely True Story (as Told by a Bunch of Lying Liars)." Basically, someone - either a clumsy teen, one of those teens’ friends, or maybe the family dog - broke a priceless family heirloom (a vase) and everyone has a story about why it wasn't them. The stories become increasingly ridiculous until the truth, or more than one version of it (pretty much depending on what universe you are in), is eventually revealed. It's a comedy and it'll be a good time. We hope to see you there! #VanguardPride

The fourth graders spent the week before Thanksgiving disguising turkeys and writing step-by-step instructions explaining how they completed their drawings. They then had a classmate try to recreate their turkeys by reading and following their directions. We think they did a pretty good job with their directions! #VanguardPride

Yesterday, 4th graders in Mrs. Stadler's class had a blast celebrating the end of their read aloud with a Harry Potter Day! #VanguardPride

4th graders in Mrs. Nimmow's class also earned a Harry Potter Day after completing the read aloud in class. They painted wands, made house ties, and played games. It was a magical reward! #VanguardPride

The next #VanguardPride #SeniorSpotlight is on John Reader! Plans after graduation?: I plan to attend a four year college and earn a degree in Kinesiology to become a Physical Therapist. Activities during high school?: Football, Basketball, and Track Dream job?: Physical Therapist Favorite memory? Watching Mr. Steiner click through the slides as fast he could in AP Psychology every morning my junior year. What are you most proud of?: Helping another classmate with weight training my sophomore year. Congratulations, John!

National Champion!!!! Alumnus, Christian Patzka, is the 2024 NCAA DIII Cross Country Champion! According to UW-Whitewater Warhawk Athletics, Christian "made his move in the last 200m to cross first with a time of 24:06:1. After a runner-up in both 2022 and 2023, Patzka adds his first Championship Crown in Cross Country." Congratulations, Christian! #VanguardPride!
