Last week, AP Biology students learned about biological macromolecules. Students completed the “Murder and a Meal” lab where they had to test crime scene samples for specific macromolecules to determine where the victim was and who he was with. What a fun way to learn for all mystery people out there! #VanguardPride

Today's #VanguardPride new staff highlight is on Chelsie Long! Chelsie is from Black Earth and is our new Elementary Lunch and Recess Educational Assistant. She loves to read, color, and play with her son. She's currently attending college to get her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education as well. She's very excited to be getting experience in the field she wants for her career, and says she's always wanted to work in a school. Welcome, Chelsie! We're happy to have you!

All youth volleyball players grades 1-8 who have participated in past volleyball camps or middle school volleyball are invited to Youth Night at the varsity’s home match on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 19th! The weather may feel like summer, but the students in Baking and Pastry are ready for fall! They learned about apples and the wide assortment of flours this week and used their skills to prepare apple crisp! 🍎 A HUGE thank you to Mr. Fuchs and his wife for their generous donation of apples! #VanguardPride

7th grade students in Mrs. Schmitt's social studies class learned about how geographer's think spatially. In pairs, students had to describe a room in their house, but they were not allowed to look at the piece of paper that their partner was drawing on. The partner had to draw the map. This activity allowed students to understand the relationship of location from one object to another, use effective communication, and visualize an image. Great job, Vanguards! #VanguardPride

Today's new staff highlight is on Bryanna Gray! Bryanna is starting at Wisconsin Heights as a new Educational Assistant. She enjoys being outside, walking her dogs, doing home projects and hanging out with her family. She is most excited about working with students and figuring out what works best for each of them. 🚍🎓 Big thanks to Ms. D from GORiteways for bringing a bus to our elementary school today! The students had a fantastic time exploring the bus and learning all about bus safety and expectations. 🚌✨ It’s so important for our kids to understand how to stay safe and feel comfortable on their ride to school. Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices are a tool to help students with speech or language impairments communicate. Ms. Abby Cabrera has been teaching our students how to communicate using AAC devices and how to use our new communication board on our playground to communicate with all our friends. #VanguardPride

Did you know that over half of our drivers are coming from other areas to drive our bus routes? This is GREATLY APPRECIATED but does come with challenges. The drivers aren't as familiar with our area and traveling here in the winter months can be difficult. Wouldn't it be great to come together as a community and support the students by driving a bus? o A Commercial Driver License (CDL) with P (passenger) and an S (signs) endorsement are required for buses. o GO Riteway • offers paid training to acquire the CDL which can sometimes cost thousands of dollars • has a ride-along policy for parents with young children so a babysitter/daycare would not be needed • has a $500 sign on bonus for new drivers as well as a $250 referral bonus • offers flexible schedules where a driver can work morning or afternoon only, or even charter only • has van routes which do not need a CDL and those routes can be driven while training for the CDL or as van only drivers Thank you for considering! #VanguardPride #GORiteway

Mr. Marx 's Biology 9 class did a lab called Quantatative Diversity. The students used kick nets in the creek to discover some of the organisms that habitat in the creek. They pulled out a bottom-feeder fish, crayfish, and some other tiny, slimy things. #VanguardPride

Today's new staff highlight is on Ashley Kalscheur! Ashley is our new Kindergarten teacher and she lives in Mazomanie with her husband, daughter, and 4 pets. Her hobbies include being with family and friends, golfing, attending and spectating sports events, hiking, and her pets. She has 2 black labs and 2 cats. Things that excite her about coming to Wisconsin Heights include the great atmosphere, being close to home and in the same district her daughter will attend in the future. She shared that this will be her 16th year teaching, and she's previously taught grades kindergarten through 4th while in the Lodi School District for the last 15 years.
