Our eighth-grade Introduction to FACS students have been hard at work honing their skills in hand stitching, sewing on buttons, and mastering the art of using a sewing machine! The result? Hand warmers and trendy tote bags that showcase their creativity and craftsmanship. #Vanguard Pride
Our next #SeniorSpotlight for the #VanguardPride #Classof2024 is on Devan Buckeridge!
Plans after graduation: Attend Madison Area Technical College for 2 years for general ed’s and eventually transfer to UW-Oshkosh for an additional 4-5 years to get my master’s in either Optometry, Sports Medicine, or Physical Therapy.
Activities during high school: Basketball, Student Council, and Class Vice President.
Dream job: NBA scout, coach, or doctor but more realistically a physical therapist.
Favorite memory: Listening to all of Mr. Marx’s stories over the past few years, especially when we were online during my freshman year. Also, the California trip was a blast and I enjoyed playing music for the chaperones on the first few bus rides.
Most proud of: I am most proud of staying out of trouble and never giving up in classes no matter how difficult some could be at times.
Congratulations, Devan! We're proud of you!

7th grade math did a holiday themed breakout box to break out of their unit on inequalities. The breakout box problems were written to the poem of Twas the Night Before Christmas, except there were problems such as mice had taken over the house and Santa's sleigh had broken down. The students had to use what they had learned about solving with less than, greater than, less than or equal to, and greater than or equal to, to help Santa deliver the gifts.
All of the #VanguardPride teams were successful and had a great time doing the activity to review for their upcoming test.
Mrs. Statz's 4th hour Intro to Culinary classes made gingerbread houses the week before break.
Here are some examples of the finished products. Nice work!

On Tuesday, December 19 at the boys basketball game, Athletic Director Kindra Zuberbuehler presented Bret Schultz with the Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association Wisconsin Athletic Service Award.
In her speech, Ms. Zuberbuehler highlighted the following, "If someone were to ask ten people what Bret does you would get 10 different answers because he does one hundred different things because... they just need to get done. I personally could not survive without him and quite frankly our sports thrive in large part because of him. He is simply the rock of our indoor activities. Bret can find a random volleyball stanchion floor hole cover in a jiffy, locate a mysterious breaker panel, or drive in a lift to restart the hudl camera. All with a smile and a “we will make this work” attitude. He is simply irreplaceable and his acts of service and kindness are unmatched. So for all of that and so much more, I present the 2023 Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association Wisconsin Athletic Service Award to our one and only Bret Schultz. "
Congratulations Bret!
