4th graders in Mrs. Stadler's class have been working hard in their geometry unit! They worked as teams to identify and label over 20 polygons!
Way to go #VanguardPride 4th graders!!!

6th graders in Mrs. Johnson’s Science class are conducting a lab on the effect water plays on creating fungus (mold) on bread. Students prepared bread samples using hot/cold water, white/ wheat bread, and storing it in a light/dark place. Students made predictions and will check their samples in one week and record and discuss their findings.
#VanguardPride students are doing a fabulous job making a hypothesis, monitoring their sample, and recording the data!

The #VanguardPride JV and Varsity Boys Basketball game against Cambridge that was scheduled for tonight will be played tomorrow, Friday, February 24th.
JV will start at 6:00 pm and Varsity will start at 7:30pm.

#TBT to the #VanguardPride class of 2003! 20 years this year!

Due to inclement weather, Wisconsin Heights School District will be CLOSED on Thursday, February 23, 2023. Virtual learning for MS/HS students.

7th Graders in Mrs. Schmitt's language arts classes have been gathering evidence to support their claim to prepare for debates. Topics being discussed include: Should college athletes get paid? Is social media good for society? Should there be a junk food tax? Should the school day begin later? Should citizens be required to vote in elections?
Our #VanguardPride students are learning very valuable lessons!

Let's give a huge THANK YOU to our dedicated #VanguardPride #GoRiteway bus 🚌drivers!

Due to inclement weather, WHSD will be closed on Wednesday, February 22, 2023. Virtual learning for Middle and High School students. Be safe!

The #VanguardPride 6th and 7th grades held an auction in math class. Mrs. Meinholz gave them a catalog of word problems involving percents with answers, some of which were the wrong answers. In teams, students had 10 minutes to look over the problems, solve them, and determine which problems had the correct answers with them.
Mrs. Meinholz gave each team $1,000 💲 (fake money, of course), and then put the problems up for auction. The goal was to buy as many problems with correct solutions listed as possible and get the best bang for your buck!
It definitely got a little wild and crazy as students kept raising their paddles to outbid each other, and a few were so excited, they would accidentally raise their paddles when they didn't mean to. 😁
The students really connected to this lesson - most of them had been to an auction and had a story to share about attending an auction through 4H, or with their parents or grandparents.
Super fun!!!

Thursday afternoon, Wisconsin Heights middle and high school students showed their #VanguardPride school spirit at our Winter Pep Rally! We heard from student reps from all the winter sports teams and clubs, and Sydney Groshek sang the National Anthem beautifully. There was some friendly competition between students and staff during the basketball 🏀 game that ended in a tie 9-9. During half-time, students competed in "human bowling" 🎳 using scooters and bowling pins! What a fun way to show our school spirit and send our state-bound swimmers/skier out with a bang!

Kindness.....pass it on 💓
Today, February 17th, is Random Acts of Kindness Day.🌈 The idea behind Random Act of Kindness Day is to spread feelings of kindness and brighten someone’s day.
Even the smallest act is truly significant. Think of the domino effect; one act of kindness can lead to another, then another, then another 💗......with the end result being more positive and kind outcomes.
You can never go wrong with #VanguardPride 💚kindness!

You are invited to the 5 year commemoration of The Future Search.
Five years ago, a group of community members took 3 days out of their time to participate in a strategic planning event entitled "Vanguard Vision": Reaching New Heights".
The group explored the past, present, the future. Together, they discovered ways for the Wisconsin Heights School District to continue providing an outstanding learning community for our students.
Join us to hear about the progress made on our strategic directions (it's quite impressive) and what work is still in our exciting future. #VanguardPride runs strong in our community!
